| Current
education scenario in Pakistan lacks clear dimensions, in terms
of what they want to achieve out of primary and secondary level
curriculum. Lack of trained teachers and resources has left a vast
gap in planning and execution aspects of the system and generally the output
is not what planner's desire. Education system
in Pakistan, needs a progressive revolution in the planning and
assessment mechanisms.
The SAEL Movement is formed to address all the crucial issues that
are acting as hindrance towards a prosperous and progressive educated
generation of Pakistan.
All people working with the movement have the same vision and with
this harmony and contrast of every one (in terms of our staff’s
exposure to foreign and Pakistani education system) under the umbrella
of The SAEL Movement make us a promising body to
achieve our objectives.
Aim and objectives
The SAEL Movement is aimed to create and explore
all possible channels and resources for education in the country,
where the first geographical targeted area for the movement is Lahore
district. The movement is primarily focused on educational betterment
and enhancement of opportunities for youth and children of the country.
Whereas the other five supplementary objectives are also stated
below.
The philosophy of the organisation is strictly based upon the above
statement and we think that the two issues (i.e. educational betterment
and enhancement of opportunities to youth and children) are interrelated.
Following key objectives are taken as challenges for the
movement:
Undertaking high quality research work from evidence based perspective for development of education sector.
Providing training and counselling services to all linked stakeholders and sectors: i.e. government, educationists, policy makers, teachers, parents and the students.
Potential educational and professional career opportunities for the youth and children regardless of their colour, social status, physical and mental abilities.
Advocate socio-psychological needs of the youth and children to opt for different pathways and helping them explore specific subject areas to exhilarate success in professional lives.
Promote multi disciplinary, cross agency partnerships for information sharing and improvement in edification process.
Vision
The words of the nation’s founder Mr. Muhammad Ali Jinnah constitute
the vision of the SAEL movement:
“You know that the importance of Education and the right type of
education, can not be over-emphasised. Under foreign rule for over
a century, sufficient attention has not been paid to the education
of our people and if we are to make real, speedy and substantial
progress, we must earnestly tackle this question and bring our educational
policy and programme on the lines studied to the genius of our people,
consonant with our history and culture and having regard to the
modern conditions and vast development that have taken place all
over the world. There is no doubt that the future of our state will
and must greatly depend upon the type of education we give to our
children, and the way in which we bring them up as future citizens
of Pakistan. Education does not merely mean academic education.
There is immediate and urgent need for giving scientific and technical
education to our people in order to build up our future economics
life and to see that our people take to science, commerce, trade
and particularly well-planned industries. We should not forget that
we have to compete with the world which is moving very fast in this
direction. At the same time we have to build up the character of
our generation. We should try, by sound education, to instill into
them highest sense of honour, integrity, responsibility and self-less
services to the nation. We have to see that they are fully qualified
and equipped to play their part in the various branches of national
life in a manner which will do honour to Pakistan”.
